It all started when...
Life was hard and unkind to Wesley Fluellen during his early childhood years, leaving him to feel very alone. He was abandoned by his mother and did not meet his biological father until he was 14 years old. Just four months later his father would die from a heart attack. Wesley was the victim of both physical and verbal abuse throughout foster homes. During that time of his life he never knew the true meaning of happiness. He attended several different schools throughout his childhood, and was even taken out of the school system for an entire year.
Through all of this, Wesley still kept his hand to the plow - never giving up. Finally, when Wesley was twelve years old, he was fostered by a loving family. Thereafter he was able to settle into his academics at Collinwood High School where he began excelling, earning both honor and merit roll awards. While attending high school, Wesley also realized that God had blessed him with a gift to play basketball. Academic excellence in the classroom and on the basketball court resulted in Wesley receiving a full athletic scholarship to Robert Morris University. A high achiever, Fluellen not only graduated from RMU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Science Administration, he also achieved Dean’s list status and was named Most Valuable Player for his basketball conference.
Following his attendance at Robert Morris University, over the next decade he continued forging his success globally as a professional basketball player in the NBA, Europe and South America. Since which, Wesley now utilizes his time cultivating youth through his Fundamentals First basketball skills & mentorship programs, clinics and camps. A much sought after motivational speaker, Wesley’s strong desire to assist young people in reaching their fullest potential inspires him to be the right example for others to follow. Recognized by political, business and community leaders for his personal and professional contribution towards cultivating and rebuilding communities all over the world, Wesley’s legacy is his global imprint. Health and fitness being his life style his mission and ministry is to ensure every life he touches evokes positive change.
Rising above adversity Wesley’s life story is a beautiful portrait for children and adults to embrace and emulate. By sharing his story and making a daily difference his message resounds, “Look at my life, if I can do it, then you can too”. GET INVOLVED!
